No one said business is going to be easy, and in fact, I really don’t know if it’d be that much fun it is was easy. The lessons we go through, and the struggles we have, are what keep us fresh and on our toes. Like I always say, “Make the journey the fun part.” If we went through our business life doing the same things, day-in, and day-out, we’d get bored, so my advice is to make the most of every day, by getting in the right mindset, and by understanding that the business is going to come at you, so just go with it.
That being said, let me share three personal tips that I use to stay on track and keep a positive attitude, no matter what’s going on with my business.
Tip 1: Be Ready
Before your head lifts from the pillow in the morning, and your eyes open, get in the right mindset. Take a few minutes to breathe, to think of everything you’re thankful for, to forget about whatever was bothering you yesterday, and to let yourself know that, “You’re going to take care of YOU today, by loving yourself.” There’s nothing more powerful that you can do first thing in the morning, than what I mention here.
Tip 2: Be Prepared
Going to bed at night not having any idea of what you’re looking to accomplish the following day, is really hindering your ability to reach your full business potential. Everything in life takes preparation, and in business, if you’re not taking the time to forecast and prepare, you’re going to get smoked by your competition, because I can assure you without a doubt, they’re taking time to prepare well in advance.
Tip 3: Be Energetic
You’re not trying to put people to sleep here, what you’re looking to do, is energize your employees and your clients, so that they get onboard with what you’re speaking about. I say this to my wife all the time, “Energy creates energy,” and while it drives her crazy to hear it over and over again, it’s so true, especially in business. If you want to be a top leader, bring the energy, there’s no simpler way for me to put it than that.
As you can see, understanding that the business is going to come at you, comes down to mindset. If you don’t understand this, you’ll always live in an unsettled mental state. Trying to control every business situation is never going to work. Instead, just take in the situation at hand, and work with it. Fighting is never the answer to a positive outcome.
Enjoy the ride.
Remember this, “A particular business situation may not be fun when you’re going through it, but after the dust settles and you look back on what’s occurred, and how everything worked out, you usually end up right where we’re supposed to be.” Enjoy the business lessons you learn on a daily basis, and “be ready, be prepared, and be energetic,” so you can have the most success, as fast as possible.
